question about learning code, and retrieving the info in IR

Post by ziploker »

i was having some trouble learning from a particular remote to a URC-8910.

I learn the keys on my remote and i download the info to IR. When i go the the "Learned signals" tab, instead of seeing the protocol, device, sub-device, Obc, efc, etc...

I get a window that shows raw data, and three text boxes..

After i try to re-learn the info after a few tries i get the correct window, But is this caused by the remote i'm trying to learn from?

And is there another way to get the protocol, device/sub-device, obc and efc from a particular remote, or is the learning method the best way?

thanks for any info

The trouble with a post like this is that it doesn't give us anything to work with. At the very least, you should post the IR files that contain the learns, both the good ones and the bad ones. The good file will show us what the protocol, etc really is and then an expert might be able to guess as to why the bad ones didn't learn properly.

If you told us what the device was that you were trying to learn, we might already know what signals it uses, so there would be no need for you to do the learning.

If it's a device that we haven't seen before, then yes, learning is the best way (maybe the only way) to move forward.
