Most of these remotes have a VPT feature. However, there's some restrictions/rules concerning it's use. Manually programming Some the default setting is "ON" and it's many times the TV device. One restriction is that if you reassign a device button, it "breaks" VPT. Sometimes (maybe always?) "audio" is immune to the effect, although you may be able to program the audio device as the VPT device. I noticed on the Mill4B02 you can't turn it off, manually.
Now comes a situation where you want VPT to work certain devices, but not certain others. For instance, Let's say you want VPT set to TV for the TV device and VCR, but NOT the cable device, you want to use the cable box's volume controls.
WITHOUT using a special protocol (OR ANY other means which has to use ANY eeprom space, is there a way to selectively CHOOSE exactly which devices VPT will control?

Don't know about other remotes, but 15-2116/7 has settings to define
the VPT device, then it has settings to turn VPT on/off for each device.
So for example,
VPT status : On
VPT device : TV
TV VPT : On
VCR VPT : On
CBL VPT : Off
I'm just going by the UI right now as I've been using an extender for too
long to remember how it really behaves. It may still suffer from the
problem where VPT stops working if you change the VCR device to a CBL
device, I really can't remember.
Not sure if that helps you at all or whether you are asking for a specific
remote or kind of taking a survey. |
