Security warning

Post by ElizabethD »

I got a security warning when I pushed "Download" on a Guest submission of file. I was in the DVD section, clicked on the filename, it took me to the usual detail where the Download button is. When I pushed Download, I got a warning
The current Web page is trying to open a site on your intranet
Do you want to allow it
Current site:www.hifi-remote.com
intranet site: f
It was too weird to download, but I tried again and it's repeatable. This is a link to the file - I broke it on purpose now

No intranet here at this time.

Thanks for the tip Liz. There's nothing sinister here though, the user entered the URL for the file on his PC in the line below the line with the BROWSE button, so the software assumed it was an internet URL.

I have deleted the reference to the file.

Thanks for taking time to look in your busy schedule. I didn't think any scumware here, but prefer to check. In any case:
There are three Liteon-LVW-5001-DVD-player upgrades. The middle one is the one by Guest. Is not an upgrade, takes you to a .gif image
The other two suffer from possible db misindexing:
https://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload ... ile_id=587there are two of those under 587. One is a legitimate upgrade, one is a bunch of hex codes. BTW I don't need any of those, just doing a sanity check for something more weird than any of this. Might need to be subject of a separate post.

Thanks for the additional tips, I have deleted the non-upgrade files.
