Hi.

I've been trying to find an upgrade (or even just the pronto hex codes) to operate my Revox B226 CD Player.
I have tried one upgrade I found here but only some of the codes work.

I understand the Original remote was a B208 which operated a number of products including the B226 CD Player.

I've seen a link here to a file (Revox B208 Remote -V2.IR ) at Yahoo - but the link seems to be broken and I can't find the file by searching for it.

Revox were kind enough to send me a page of information which descibes how the codes work. It covers the following products
B251 Amplifier, B261 Tuner, B285/286 Receiver, B225/226 CD Player, B215 Cassette Recorder, PR99 Mk2 Tape Recorder, and B791/795, B291 Turntable.

I've put the info relevant to the B226 into a word file (includes diagrams) and have posted it here
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=3091

I have tried to decifer this with the help of all the articles here, but I'm lost I'm afraid.

Here is the upgrade I used from here (I think).
Upgrade Code 0 = 8F D2 (Video Acc/2002) Revox B225/226 CD player (KM v8.34)
DC 00 B0 00 5A 41 FF 87 C7 A4 74 B4 34 D4 54 94
14 E4 64 0C 8C FC 44 8C 0C F4 C4
End

Upgrade Protocol 0 = 01 DC (S3C8+) Custom Protocol for Video Acc/2002 Revox B225/225 CD player (KM v8.34)
00 00 21 8B 13 C5 E5 40 05 06 00 0A 00 31 00 0A
00 80 E2 85 00 0A 00 D0 76 05 02 6B 02 20 01 8D
01 49
End

From this ... here are the codes that work for my B226 (not the same button functions as in the above upgrade) To post these I've fired these out of my URC8910 and learnt them with USB-UIRT.

CONCLUSION:
If it is possible for someone to use the posted information from Revox, to generate "clean" IR codes that would be fantastic.
The codes I really need to get something working are the Play/Next and Stop functions and the numbers 9 & 0

Hope other frustrated Revox owners may find this useful also.

Hoping someone can help me.
Regards
Simon

Here's the Revox KM file that you probably found references to...
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=3093

and for anyone else watching, here's a link to the thread where it was developed...

I took a peek at the Word doc that you loaded but it seems incomplete, for example the "balance left" function referenced in the beginning is not in the function list. The data that is included gives us the OBCs for the functions, but it doesn't give us the device code. When we created the upgrade for the Revox B260 we found that it needed two different device codes.

So, if Revox actually sent you a larger document, could you please load the complete doc.

Here's the OBC codes that I derived from the posted doc...

00 POWER OFF
14 <REW
15 >FORW
16 PAUSE
17 num 1
18 num 2
19 num 3
20 num 4
21 num 5
22 num 6
23 num 7
24 num 8
25 num 9
26 num 0
27 PREEMPH ON
28 PREEMPH OFF
29 LOCAL TIME
30 TOTAL TIME
31 PAUSE ON
32 LOCATE
33 LOAD
34 AUTOSTP ON
35 AUTOSTP OFF
36 PAUSE W/O M
38 PLAY/NEXT
39 STOP
55 PLAY/NEXT

Hi.
Thanks for that.

The B260 Tuner file as is, doesn't do much for me.
The stop button turns the power off but that's it. I'll play around with it.

I've posted a .pdf of the revox info ...
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=3099

As you'll see the "balance Left" example was simply from one of the other devices. No other info though.

I've have today discovered that RTI also has this info in their database.
It's described as an 11bit code.
When you try to view the hex code though, it says " This code is not representable in hex format"
However, if I was to get hold of an RTI remote, load the codes and learn them with my URC8910 from there, should work yes?

The RTI database also has a "Waveform View" which, if you wave your mouse over it, it seems to tell you exactly what it's made of. Again I don't understand it but, is that useful?

They also give this information

Function|Encoding|Number of Bits|Data

0|Space|11|0x1D6
1|Space|11|0x1E2

Hope this is helpful too.

Thanks for the PDF, it helps. It states that the signal is comprised of 6 data bits and 4 address bits and a "start pulse". The data bits are what we call the OBC and the address bits and the start pulse combined are what we call the device code.

What the PDF doesn't tell us, however, is what the correct values for the address bits is.

The STOP button from the B260 being the POWER button for your B226 is consitent with the data in the PDF, which is a good sign, however I would have expected the numeric keys to have also worked. As they evidently don't work for you, I'm still puzzled. What I had hoped you would do is drop the OBCs from the list I provided into the KM upgrade and test them to see if they work.

Comparing the data that you posted from the RTI database with the PDF, those commands appear to be for a B251 amp. The one example in the PDF that includes the address bits (ie, the balance left button) shows a device code of 28, which matches the RTI data and most of the data in the KM upgrade file (the KM file includes 2 buttons from device code 18).

I have created an upgrade, using device code 28, that includes all the functions that you originally posted, give it a try and see if anything works (don't worry about whether the buttons are logically mapped yet)

Upgrade Code 0 = 9F D0 (CD/2000) Revox B226 CD player (KM v8.37)
DC 00 9E FE F7 C7 FF A4 74 B4 34 D4 54 94 14 E4
64 FC D8 24 C4 38 B8 78 98 04 F8 10 F4 8C 0C 18
44 84
End

Here's the KM file itself...
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=3101

If this upgrade doesn't work, it means that the address bits are wrong. Unless you can get a list of address bits from your Revox contact, the best I can suggest is that you try all of the possible device codes. Given that there's a start-pulse bit, it means that all the device codes will be even numbers, so you could try all the even numbers in the range 0-62.

Hi.
Thanks for that. OK ... I can confirm that the "Play/Next" command works, and the power button turns the power off - so we are making progress here!
Does that make any more sense of things?

Your comment about the RTI codes pointing to a Revox Receiver of some type are interesting too, as there are still commands like Play/Next, Pause etc included, that wouldn't be part of a receiver anyway.

Cheers

Sorry ... just to confirm, The Play/Next and Power Off commands were the only ones to do anything.

I've now got ALL the codes working by entering the 1 in the byte 2 column for those that didn't work, as you suggested.
I appologise for not doing this first.

Discrete on and off are available - as any button (except Power Off of course) will turn the unit on.

I can't thankyou enough for what you have done here!
I have spent so much time reading articles here and tinkering around with things, that I now know, that I really don't know much about the subject at all!
However ... a fascinating experience. I shall keep learning.

THANKS again Very Happy

Glad to hear it, could you load the final version into the file section (and post a link to it) so I can take a look.

Have done so at ...
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=file&file_id=3109

I realise I should delete things form the Diagnosis folder now, would you like me to post the .pdf somewhere else for archiving?
