How to create WAV files?

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Just FYI, if you happen to have a remote that has an internal modem (like the URC-8910) and you're waiting for your cable to arrive, you can still load your upgrades, etc into the remote by converting them to a WAV file and using the remote's modem.

To convert an IR file to a WAV file, select "Export To WAV" from IR's File menu.

To put the URC-8910 into listening mode, select UPGRADE from the LCD screen menu.
Hi Robman,

I am also in the same boat as other users. Ordered a cable a couple weeks ago and cannot get any response from Hovis. In the meantime, I do have an 8910 and saw your post about being able to update via a WAV file. But I have one newb question. I downloaded a KM txt file for the device I want to add to the 8910. I loaded it up with RM, copied and pasted the update information into IR, but the File - Export to WAV menu is always greyed out. How do I create a WAV file once I copy the data to IR?

I think one reason that may be greyed out is that IR.EXE doesn't have the path to where the IRToWAV package is installed.

In IR's file menu, click on "set directory" and in the pop up submenu, click on "IRToWav path" and make sure it is set correctly.

Of course, if you never installed IRToWAV, do that first.

Thanks to both of you. Told you I was a newb - I didn't realize another program was needed to create the WAV files. Hopefully this will tide me over until I can get my JP1 cable.
