How to make a surface mount soldering iron for ~$20

...Requires a visit to Radio Shack. As if you need an excuse...

Sadly, a visit to the Shack just doesn't hold the thrill for me it once did. It's become Cell Phone & Battery Shack. I couldn't even find a simple 2x8 DIP socket the last time I stopped in. I feel so old...

They've started keeping alot of that stuff in the back at my local Shack. I have to ask at the counter and they go get it for me.
