That means that you didn't assign any functions to those buttons. It's worth keeping in mind that Sling changes the names of buttons in the SBAV.cfg file depending on which "skin" you are using, whereas the RDF just has one fixed list of buttons. So, what you could do is make a note of the three button names in question, then go to SBAV.cfg and see what numbers those buttons use in the Sling world (and see if they're renamed for your device), then go to the RDF and see what button names correspond to those same button names. Then make sure that you have programmed the desired functions to those buttons.
In SBAV.cfg look for the [Keys] section and in the RDF look for the [Buttons] section.
For example...
in SBAV.cfg
[Keys]
...
048=SAP;;Misc
049=Surround;;Misc
[DVDP.Keys]
...
048=Subtitle;;Playback
049=Audio;;Playback
in the RDF...
[Buttons]
...
SAP/subtitle=48,
Surround=49,
In this case you will see that buttons 48 and 49 are called SAP and surround normally in the Slingbox and SAP/subtitle and Surround in the RDF, but if you just happen to be using a DVD recorder, the Sling changes the names to Subtitle and Audio. _________________ Rob

I wasn't aware that the beta firmware has been made official already. I have just updated the main sticky post in the Slingbox forum to show what you need to do to use upgrades with the new software.
If your copy of SBAV.cfg was deleted when you upgraded to the new software, here's an archived copy...

I'm using the "Pioneer_DVD_Recorder_DVR-520HS" file to created the Sling bin file & select "Pioneer" then "other" then the "created bin file" but still get grayed out button.
Perhaps that Pioneer skin by sling has keys missing ??

There isn't a RETURN button in the version of SBAV.cfg that I'm looking at, so if you see that button on the screen, they must have added it since they changed the firmware.
Here are the relevant buttons from SBAV.cfg
033=DVD Menu
034=Setup Menu
035=Title Menu
036=Cancel
037=Clear
043=Page Up
044=Page Down
And here are the same buttons from the RDF
Menu=33,
Setup=34,
Guide=35,
Cancel=36,
exit=37,
Page+=43,
Page-=44,
Can you confirm that when you edited the upgrade file in RM that you assigned the relevant functions to these buttons, and then when you tested the upgrade with your Slingbox, the functions did not appear on those buttons? _________________ Rob

Is this the button you are referring to as return?
It is the only button not mapped that I can see.
I think that would be commonly called replay. |

The REPLAY button is defined for the PVR skin...
[PVR.Keys]
030=Skip;Quick Skip;Playback
031=Replay;Instant Replay;Playback
The generic buttons names for 30 and 31 are...
[Keys]
030=Skip+;Skip Forward;Playback
031=Skip-;Skip Backward;Playback
and in the RDF, those buttons are defined as...
[Buttons]
"next track":Skip+=30,
"prev track":Skip-=31, _________________ Rob
