I will be forever greatful if anyone can help me.

Anyway, I have a Lacie Silverscreen (divx hard drive player that connects to a tv to view movies). I only got the slingbox to be able to control the Silverscreen. Nothing has worked.

I have tried:

1. calling tech support
2. testing every dvd ir code hoping one would magically match
2. emailed an ir code request to tech support with no response.

I'm begging for some help here. The Lacie Silverscreen's remote is so simple - mostly arrows and a few buttons are needed, all others are not.

I've been pulling out my hair trying to find a code to work. Even Lacie tech support wouldn't help me.

Please make my slingbox useful Smile

The only helpful thing that you could get from Lacie tech support would be the info on the remote control signal that they used, they wouldn't be able to help you set up your Slingbox.

The Slingbox tech support wouldn't be able to help you without knowing what the Lacie signals look like. That's true for us here in the JP1 forum too.

Do you have a JP1 remote that you can use to capture the Lacie signals?

Hi Robman,

Lacie wouldn't give me any of the code info. They tried to tell me the ir was proprietary.

I do not have a JP1 to capture the Lacie code. If I did would this help in creating a code for the Slingbox? If so, I will buy the remote if you could walk me through the process of getting the code over to the Slingbox.

Thanks for your quick reply to my original message.

To make your own. You will need jp1 learning remote and cable.

I recommend the 8910 and jp1 cable from Rob here
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=413

You will need to read some of the guides linked in this post
http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1009

As you will be converting for sling this guide especially
http://controlremote.sourceforge.net/rmhelp/rmhelp.html

And the guide for sling in this post

I've run into that same BS with several other companies, so it's not uncommon.

Yes, if you had a JP1 learning remote and cable you would be able to capture the codes from your Lacie remote. You could then use that captured info to either build your own upgrade, or if you post the capture file, one of us could build the upgrade for you. But you would still need to create the bin file for the slingbox, so start reading the sticky thread in this forum.

So, if you want a JP1 learning remote and cable, I can sell them to you for $39 shipped. That's $20 for the remote, $15 for the parallel cable and $4 for shipping. If your PC doesn't have a parallel port, you'll need to get the $30 USB cable, which would bring your total to $54.

You will likely also find pretty quickly. A good jp1 remote will likely become your main remote for your Home Theater Room.
