I can't decode that for you. I am pretty sure that Previous Channel is efc=083 though.

Why is "learning remote" n/a? The 2116 is absolutely a learning remote, and since you have the original remote and a JP1 cable, why can you not learn these functions? If they are not PRESENT on your OEM remote, you don't say this, so one wonders.

Also, have you read THIS STICKY POST about Sony codes? It points you to the most authoritative collection of Sony remote codes extant. However, the site lists them as OBCs rather than EFCs if I'm not mistaken.

In general, Sony discrete ON is OBC 046 and Discrete Off is OBC 047. Since Sony20:26.114 corresponds to their standard Cable Box codes, I'd give OBC 094 a try for Previous (or jump), or if that doesn't work, I'd try OBC 011, 048, or 059.

Thanks for the replies. None of those codes work.

Yes, the 15-2116 is a learning remote. My Sony OEM remote doesn't have these buttons I am requesting. I am trying to get these buttons into my JP1 remote so I can teach my HTM MX-500. Thanks in advance...

OK. I presume you have learned the available codes you want from your OEM remote directly to your MX-500, not using the 2116.

Have you actually TRIED the upgrade you found and linked on your 2116 to see if ANY of its codes work? (You have not explicitly stated that the upgrade you reference works on your device via the 2116)

It's possible that that upgrade is not good for you (despite the similarity in name), and perhaps you might get further by simply learning a few codes from your OEM to the 2116 and decoding them so you can confirm that the protocol/device/subdevice combination in the upgrade you're using is either correct (or NOT?). Then maybe a new avenue to pursue may open.

A very important question, since the info in that RemoteCentral link you posted contradicts the info in that upgrade. Sony has some strange mixtures in their IR code sets, but more likely that thread and that upgrade are NOT for the same device. Which one is your device?

Post the URL anyway. It's not as easy as a CCF, but I can dig info out of a pcf.

Power Off: Sony20: 26.187: 47
Previous Channel:: Sony20: 26.187: 108

So you could try a new upgrade, with Sony20 protocol, Device 26, subdevice 187 and those three OBC numbers.

That does sound better than guessing the accuracy and relevance of IR signals found in various web sources.

I think Rob H will be interested in the results here, as he doesn't have anything listed on his site for 26.187

Sorry guys. I misread my info to come up with efc of 083. I looked at my info again and it shows efc 131 for prev which is obc 108 like John decoded.

It is however from ofa's code 1006 for this device. That code is in the 6131nw is still sony20: dev 26:114. And matches the upgrade in the file section.

Well, acribb, if Sony20 26.114 is indeed correct for this device, then the only remaining explanation is an error in creating/modifying/or uploading the upgrade into KM/RM and/or IR. (or the codes simply don't work for your device)

In this case, we would need NOT ONLY a few learned signals downloaded in an IR file (to CONFIRM Sony20 26.114), but also the KM/RM device upgrade you have been using to try to get these codes to work, as well as the IR file with the associated upgrade uploaded, to absolutely eliminate any operator error.

I've just read the R/C thread that was linked to in the first post and I see from the contents of the 1st post that this unit supports multiple unit codes (or "codesets" as he calls them). The standard code is "codeset 50" which is obviously the Sony20 26.114 code found in the JP1 upgrade. The poster said that he re-programmed his unit to use "codeset 51" as he has multiple units. He then posted the Pronto Hex code for the POWER button using "codeset 51" and then Daniel Tonks used that sample to generate the hex for the discrete buttons.

Running that sample through IRTool gives us the Sony20 26.187 device code.

Sony is very consistent with using the same OBC/EFCs from one codeset to the next, so I think it's safe to assume that any OBC/EFC codes that have been posted for one of these codesets will work with the other. If the posted upgrade works your unit, you must be using the standard "codeset 50" code.

Hey Acribb, before you take off, please give us some more info. Which codeset (ie, codeset50, codeset51) are you using, and which device codes did you use in your upgrade?

The Sony20 26.187 device code that you reported as working is a new one to us, so we need to document it.

Does this unit support more than just those 2 codesets? If it does, could you try switching your remote to one of the other codesets and learning a button or two from the remote so we can see what device code that set uses.

Thanks

I used the 'Cablebox' codeset 1006 from the Sony FAQ pages you guys referred to above. OBC 094 does not work for 'jump', only OBC 108 does. The jump button was ommitted from the OEM remote. I believe these codes work for both 20:26:114 and 20:26:187 codesets, however I only used the existing 20:26:114 codeset already posted for the Sony DHG-HDD500. I just went into KM with the existing file and added the Discrete On, Discrete Off, and Jump buttons to the spreadsheet to get the EFC numbers and went from there. Let me know if this helps or if I can do anything further. Thanks again for all your help.

So, you're really just confirming that the EFCs that John posted work with the Sony20 26.114 device code. Do you know how to change codesets on your Sony remote? If so, could you learn the POWER button from each codeset using your 15-2116, then download the memory and see what device code IR reports for each codeset. The standard codeset should be reported as 26.114 and I'm guessing that the 2nd codeset will be reported as 26.187, but if there are any other codesets available for you to use, I don't know what the device codes will be.

I don't know how to change codesets on my OEM Sony remote for the DHG-HDD500. If you tell me how, i'd be happy to look into what you are asking.
