Still trying to do Replay upgrade

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Thanks. I thought it was that way. So I'll clear all the existing learned, macro, and key moves out and upload a fresh image. I'm sure the remote (and its user) will be less confused then....

WHen you do the programming on the remote itself (ie, not using JP1), programming a keymove will delete the learned signal, and vice versa, but when you do the programming using JP1 that doesn't happen.

Mark Pierson wrote:It's likely that the Replay Advanced protocol code for the 8800 (P8/740 processor) is not quite ready for prime time use, especially with the advanced functions it implements.

I think Mike England ported that code, and he's in China on business, so it may be a while before anything gets done about it.
Last time I looked, the P8/740 protocol code in KM for Replay (Advanced) was the same as for Replay (Simple), so basically, there isn't an (Advanced) version for some reason. I was not the author of either P8/740 version, though I did make a version of the (Simple) for the 6805-C9.

I do seem to recall seeing a source for a P8/740 advanced version somehere. I think it was written by Scott Johnson a long time ago. When I get back from China, I'll see if I can dig that one up and see if it works or not.

My experiments seem to show that the regular functions work, but the advanced functions do not, which tends to back up your theory.

I also did some searching through the old Yahoo forum to see if I could find when the 740 advanced protocol was written, and while I didn't find a direct hit, it did seem to show that Scott was the author.

I continued to have trouble with assigning the learned and macro keys, so I tried a completely reset (981) remote and everything worked.

If you're still talking about the URC-9800, rather than the URC-8811, the learning buttons are not accessible using JP1, so you would have to program them manually by learning the signals from another remote. If you want to program them to do something that the original Replay remote cannot do (like Discrete On, Off, etc) you could program the URC-8811 to send these signals and then learn them to the URC-9800 from the URC-8811.

I'm completely off the 9800. This is all on the 8811
