6131 trouble with volume in cable /sat

Post by Wayne Harropson »

I created three upgrades for an Audiovox 1020 (10"LCD Under cabinet TV/DVD/AMFM) device. One for audio (1022), one for DVD (1021) and one for TV(1020) Using The same km file with all functions learned and the same, I only changed the Button assignments to suit each device and of course the device type and code.
Volume works on PVR(keymoved),TV,DVD, AUD (all resident volume controls) just fine..BUT NOT ON CABLE/SAT!

I've tried key-moves (cloned from the working PVR key-move of the same keys), I tried VPT, I've toyed with the 1020 upgrade etc. I even recreated the KM upgrades in RM and loaded that to no effect. I even tried manual keymoves using the OFA manual.

The cbl/Sat device button is set to Dish upgrade 1775 assigned to a DVD/VCR device type in KM. My PVR device button works fine on 0775,
I'd like to upload some files for analysis but I'll wait for a response first.

Thanks for reading

When you chose to use a VCR type code on the SAT button, you broke VPT. If you re-create the code as a SAT code, VPT will work again.

Or, load the upgrades into the remote, then use the 994 function to copy (ie, keymove) the three volume buttons from the relevant device mode over to the SAT device mode.

Since all but one of the seven devices I use are upgrades, three of the seven already work the volume directly, One is PVR set to sat the other is cablesat set to dvdvcr didn't expect VPT to work anyway.. and it doesn't.
What confuses me is that I have the same dishpvr1775 upgrade in three different other rooms with other systems, and didn't have the trouble with volume keymoves that I did with this one.
Ialtered in KM dishpvrr1775 to 1774, changed it to dev1 and the keymoves started working even though device button CBL/SAT is still assigned to 1775. I'm confused but satisfied.

One more question: can I fix an error code "data read back differs from data sent". It doesn't occur on one 6131, but the one I used to use in this room came up with it in the middle of all my hacking, and seems to have been disabled now. It was my last Test remote so it looks like I'll be reordering more from you.

Thanks again

I didn't really follow all of your description of what you've done, or are trying, but suffice to say that VPT will only work when the device button is programmed with a code (or upgrade) that uses the correct device mode. When you assign a SAT code to a VCR button, or vice versa, you will break VPT in that mode (and that mode alone).

In order to tell you why it works when you would expect that it wouldn't, or vice versa, we would need to see your IR file.

As for the "data read back differs from data sent" question, you should start a seperate thread for that, and hopefully somebody that knows something about it will respond.
