Oddness URC6962

I've got a shiny new 6962BG0 which I take it is the Canadian 6960. I've got a pioneer reciever vsx-409 which uses the same remote as the 510, I have the original remote.

Here's the problem, Rob's RM file for the pioneer has the mapping right as far as I can tell but when I upload the device to the remote it doesn't work properly the buttons are mapped all over the place, if I remap them they still do not work.

Also if i learn keys they show up as NEC2 protocol not 3DEV. This is really confusing me, all of my other devices upload and download just fine its just this one #$%^#&ing remote.

Make sure that the RM (RDF) file is for the 696x remote and also that the IR file is set for the same RDF.

In RM just change the remote and it will remap most of the buttons.

I've done that, i also tried a couple different versions of IR but all with the same problems. could the RDF be not quite right?

What IR frequency do these learned signals have? The Pioneer protocol is VERY similar to the NEC2 signal, the main difference is that NEC runs at about 38 kHz whereas Pioneer runs at about 40 kHz. Furthermore, Pioneer does all sorts of weird tricks with their signals that NEC never does. I suspect that the reason the signals are showing up as NEC2 rather than Pioneer is because the IR frequency dropped below the line that DecodeIR defines as the difference between the two. But regardless, the device codes and OBC/EFC codes will be the same for both protocols.

Here's where it gets wierder, if I assign the EFC code in RM and load up the remote the buttons will not work, If I do a learn on the keys they show up in IR as the exact same EFC codes I manually enter and assign in RM.

It maybe because none of the pioneer preset codes in the 6962 accept advanced codes manually.
