JP1 Remotes

I recently bought this remote but the lite button seems not to be working anymore.

I pressed it once and it, indeed, lit the remote but after that, it won't.

The remote was handled gently with no falls before or after that. I guess I maybe changed a code secuence and that is making the lite function button not to work.

Any comments for this?

BTW, how can I program it to accept the codes for my Onkyo DV-555S DVD Player?

Sounds like a broken transformer for the backlight. You could do a factory reset, but I don't think, that this really helps. If you are familiar with soldering etc, here are a link to buy such a thing.

Regarding your Onkyo, there are two Onkyo-Files in the Files-Section of the JP1-Group at Yahoo.

It's a very common problem with the Producer 8's that the backlight would fail. Not only is this evident by all the posts you can see to this effect all over the place, but also the guys at One For All have confirmed that they had tons of them returned for just this reason.

Thanks for all your valuable advice. I'm going to do the factory reset but in case that doesn't work, well, I'm going to tell store where I bought it if they can fix it.

Or, is it difficult to replace and solder such part?

I can practically guarantee you that the store won't be able to fix it. If it is just the transformer it shouldn't be that hard to replace. In the old days, you could not find the part anywhere in the States, but thankfully Richard at http://www.hovisdirect.com ordered a whole bunch of them directly from Hong Kong, so you can now buy the part from him for $6 (look for "PX13193-H Transformer" on his site).

I have some Producer 8's with dead backlights, and have been meaning to do the fix myself, just to try it out, so if and when I do, I'll report back.

Forgive this response, but on my 8090, you must press the LITE button 2 times to illuminate the keys, once more to remove the illumination.
