Both are for the URC-8910. The outside case has URC-8910B02 but the inside on the board has URC-8910B00. Does this make a difference?

All is lost. I checked the modem wiring again and did notice that one of the wires was disconnected from the board. I knew I had to be careful getting it back on but it seems as though I fried the modem. When I try to go to download now it just says error. So, I may be able to get it replaced under the product replacement plan from the store where I bought it but who knows. Funny enough the rest of the remote works fine. Maybe I could just suffer and use the original remote for the receiver from now on. Guess that all depends on if the store will replace it or not. Thanks for all your help and I will post to let you know what happens from here on in.

If you get yourself a $14 JP1 cable, it won't matter whether the modem works.
