|
|
I recently changed my cable box to a PVR from Scientific Atlanta...
The remote is really good, but it is missing things.
So my question is: what remotes in Canada and USA have PVR functions and control for at least 4 components (5+ best), and is JP1 ready or modifyable???
If there are no retail solutions, where can I find one?
I have seen the kameleons, but I have heard their batt life is poor..? |

Opinions are like armpits, as everybody has a couple and most of them stink, BUT ...
Of remotes currently available specifically tailored for PVR use, the OFA URC-6131 (and it's internal clone 6131n) seem to be the JP1 remote of choice.
The down side is they are not JP1-ready out of the box.
The up-side Robman (and some of the vendors that advertise on this site) sell pre-modified 6131's. Check the first post in this thread for info on how to get these fror Rob.
Other popular JP1 remotes (staying away from Kameleons) are the 8811 and 8910/9910 - although they don't have the PVR-specific buttons. I use an HTPro (9910 clone) for all of my devices and am very satisfied. These latter remotes require no modification and are JP1-ready out of the box. _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

If you can find it, the URC8017. It suits nearly perfectly for DVR use, for TiVo anyway, the way I programmed it. |

Just FYI, IIRC URC-8017 is the model number they used for the Canadian version of the URC-8011, which is the smaller non-learning version of the URC-8811. This remote needs a hardware mod for JP1 use. _________________ Rob
