Hi,
I am a newbie Rolling Eyes with extenders. I am firm with the standard JP1 for my URC 8910.
I ran out of memory so I looked into the extender 1 for the 8910.

Since I use two three devices that need a protocol extension I also run out of memory when I try to use the extender.

I looked into the source of that extender and now my question:
Is it possible to change the amount of memory allocated for protocol extensions beyond the now set $400 address? Will a change in that setting have sideefects ( besides consuming macro mem)?
Has someone done it already?

Thanks

I think it's been a dream of John Fine to have a floating boundary. As far as I know it hasn't been done yet. It's rough since the remote memory control unit plays a role here. So yes, just changing the address here and there will have side effects you don't want.

Where are you running out of memory - the keymoves or the upgrade side? I think the experts will need to know, because there are solutions to all of this.

Thanks for your quick reply.

I need more space in the upgarde area because the protocols $00ED (Nokia Quad) and $016C (Custom Protocol for SAT/1237 Dreambox (KM v8.31)) are needed!
After adding these, my devices and the extender I run out of upgrade memory Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad Crying or Very sad ...

Do you have any upgrades that use built-in protocols? (i.e. RM/KM only tell you to copy and paste the Device upgrade, and no Protocol upgrade?) If so, perhaps one or more of those can use a built-in setup code supplemented by Keymoves.

Also, do you require EVERY special protocol that is automatically installed with the extender? If not, start a bare IR file (without your device and protocol upgrades), install the extender, delete those special protocols you don't want/need, or can live without (like ToadTog, or Custom Mode Name), and then paste in your upgrades. This might fit what you want/need.

Third, post your current IR file with upgrades in the diagnosis area (and the all-important link to same here), and describe what extender special protocols you want to add, and perhaps someone can take a look and recommend some ways to recover some memory.

IT IS WORKING!!!!!!!!!!!! Laughing Very Happy Laughing

I changed the parameters in the source, assembled it, exinstalled it with an EMPTY configuration (all others failed due to extinstall) and moved the stuff from $400 in the HEX file to the new destination $580 and loaded into IR. (Yes, I had to clone and change change the RDF file accordingly.) Then I changed the pause function to what I found here http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=1838&highlight=pause and voila it runs! Razz Razz Razz

This means extinstall needs to be modified to make life easy...
I do hope someone can use this information.

P.S. If someone tells me how to upload the files I'll be glad to do it....

Is it possible to use this modified extender with my current 9910 extender configuration ?

I have a lot of stuff in it and don't want to copy everything in the new empty file.

Thanks
