Which way round?

OK, so it might be a thick question, but now that I have gone and actually built a serial cable (that's also part of the fun!), I dunno which way is the "safe" way round to plug the edge connector into my 7562. It could be that the direction doesn't matter, but my laptop is one of them costly SONY VAIO, and I know all about damaged laptops! Anyone care to put me in the "right" direction?

I don't think you can damage your remote or computer by connecting it incorrectly. If incorrectly connected it won't work.
