Why no upgrades to RS 2102?

Post by tennisman »

The remotes list says that the 15-2102 won't do upgrades. I'm wondering why. Because I can upload the info to the 1K EEPROM and verify that the raw data is there by downloading but the remote won't accept new setup codes when you input them from the pushbuttons. Did they provide the memory just for macros and keymoves? Or is the RDF faulty? I noticed that the end of the RDF is truncated, i.e. doesn't list anything after buttonmaps. Any chance that by modifying the upper portion of the RDF that I could get the upgraded setup codes to work?

If I remember correctly the remote does not scan the EEPROM for upgrades which is the reason it does not support upgrades.

Just out of curiosity did you assign the upgrades to a device in IR when you uploaded them or are you trying to assign them on the remote manually?

I tried both ways. I assigned the code in IR and uploaded. The I checked the setting by downloading and found that the uploaded setting was replaced by some default setup code. I then tried to manually assign the setup code but got one long flash instead of the 2 short flashes. I concluded that it wasn't accepting upgrades. I suppose there's no way to force the mcu to search the eeprom for upgrades?
