hello, I'm very new to the JP1 world. I bought myself a one for all - urc 10820 remote but can not seem to get the remote to download. I did some searching & reading on this forum and from what I understand, there is no RDF file for this remote, is this true, meaning there is no way to program this remote with a JP1 cable.
please help

The RDF file is not really at issue here. If an RDF does not exist, the experts here can create one for any JP1 remote. The reason the JP1 tools won't work with this remote is because it's not a JP1 remote.
It uses the new flash processor, and I bet if you look closely, the six-pin connector is labelled "JP1.2" for which there are no tools yet (nor is anybody, to my knowledge, working on creating them). _________________ Beginners - Read this thread first

I think - but I am not sure - that the ir2wav still requires an rdf file for remote definition. I'm sure an expert will confirm or deny this.

You're right. In order to have the JP1 tools generate the WAV file, we would need all the info in the RDFs, but if the remote has a modem, you can program it over the phone by calling OFA. _________________ Rob

The 10820 doesn't have a modem. _________________ Edmund |

But as Edmund has mentioned either here or (more likely) at RC, the 10820 has a lot more space for learning than previous generations of OFA remotes, so if you just need jp1 for device upgrades you should be fine to just learn all the signals.

Yes the 10820 can learn over a hundred commands. And its library is the largest of any preprogrammed remote I have seen. They brought back UEI setup codes that have long been dropped in recent years. _________________ Edmund |
