Denon RC-770 Remote questions

Post by zapdog »

Hi, Wondering a few things about this remote;
- does it have a JP1 connector
- is there a repository of info out there that I cannot find via Google?

I have a Denon AVR-3300 and would like a "factory like' remote for it. I have a RCU-810, bu it's not quite the same for advanced functions. So I'm trying to find out if the 770 would do the trick.

Thanks in advance,
gny

The exact Denon model isn't listed on the official website, but most Denon receivers use the same command set. If you have a JP1 cable and have modified the RCU-810, there should be a number of device upgrades that you can use as a basis for getting exactly what you want.

Even if you don't have a JP1 cable, you can program most of the functions you need by keymoves. There are four built-in setup codes that relate to Denon receivers:

AMP_0160 (0177)
Tuner_0004 (0021)
Tuner_1104 (1121)
Tuner_1110 (1127)

The numbers in parenthesis are the +17 offset that needs to be added to get the RCU810's setup codes.

The strategy would be to pick either Tuner_1104 (1121) or Tuner_1110 (1127) first, based on which has more keys where you want them. Then go to http://www.hifi-remote.com/codes2/amp_0004.shtml and assign advanced codes from AMP_0160 (0177) or Tuner_0004 (0021) to add the additional functions that are missing.

BTW, as typical in most OFA remotes the numerals buttons are likely to be the discrete inputs in either Tuner_1104 (1121) or Tuner_1110 (1127).
