OFA have just released a batch of new Kameleon remotes, 8206, 8204, 8203, 8201 and a charger which has reference to a 8210.

What is the likely hood of getting extenders for these (Nils), are there equivalents in the US or would you need to get hold of one to do it.

There is no immediacy in this, I've not physically seen one yet, but the recharge facility wold be a big improvement on the 8060.

Richard, it looks like we may be out of luck with the new Kameleons. See Rob's post on the new remotes.

Oh dear Surprised , I didn't spot that post.

Do you think its likely that this 'new standard' spells the end for new JP1 enabled remotes?

Truthfully I am concerned about it. I know Rob has some thoughts on this so maybe he will jump in.

Yes it does, at least until we can reverse engineer how to upgrade them. Of course, those of us with older JP1 remotes will still be able to do everything we can do now, so I'm not concerned for myself! Smile (Heck, I bought about 7 15-1994s when they were first discontinued, just in case the one I'm using ever wears out)

I have just bought a Kameleon 6 Generation 2 URC-8206, got most of it programmed? Started searching the net and got excited when it looked like I could do great things with it using JP1. Then the crushing blow of reading this thread and the fact that JP1 didnt work with it.

Questions
Since it has the 6 pin connector presumably there must be a way of externally programming it?
Does anybody know of anybody working on the problem?
If they do what is the progress so far?

regards

Sad

We are aware of the situation but haven't started working on it yet, the main reason being that we don't have any samples of the new remotes yet. The UK is ahead of the US on this one, but I've already heard that the new US remotes coming out next year will use the same processor, so we'll be able to look at it then.

You may want to give us a little longer than that. Check back in 6 to 9 months!
