Data read back differs from data written

I have new USB JP1. I can down load from my remote replay (true replay) code 3402w01 model trying to use the using OEM3OEM (ReplayTV Version2).rdf file. it has everything I need and is how it was originally identified. Now I can download from the remote and it identifies as Replay Tv /Showstopper Version 1. But when i try to upload anything i always get the Data read back differs from data written. I have tried selecting File/new ReplayTV Version2 and then trying to upload a clear code list. does not work. Any thing I am missing right now? Please let me know, hopefully i am missing some stupid switch or something.

I am having a similar problem. I have a brand new 3 foot long USB JP1 I ordered from FileBug. My remote is a URC-8090 B01. My 6 foot long USB JP1 is a few months old but always worked fine. Unfortunately that cable is with my brother. I ordered the 3 foot one as a replacement. I can download from the remote seemingly flawlessly. When I try to upload anything I get "Data read back differs from data written". When I download to see what was written to the remote nothing seems to have changed. Any help would be most appreciated.

Well the resolution for me was to wait for my old 6 foot cable to be mailed baack to me. Once I had that I was able to upload and download to my remote without incident. I don't know what the problem is with the 3 foot cable. I imagine it's probably a bad chip or something. Not much I can do to troubleshoot it. If I open it I can no longer return it which is what I plan on doing.

I have isolated this problem to the Delcom USB chip. They must have made a change to the code they programmed into this chip because the older chips do not cause any errors. I will be contacting them Monday to discuss this issue. In the meantime, please send me an email at jp1@filebug.com for return and replacement information.

Thanks Tom! Your customer support has been outstanding! I appreciate the speed with which you approached this problem. I haven't been dissappointed with the 6' cable I purchased from you. I'm sure I'll be just as pleased with a new 3' cable with a working chip.

I'd say this must have something to do with the remote as well. The cable works on my URC8910, but not on RS-2117.

BTW, when did you get your old chips? I bought mine on April 13, 2005.

Old chips were from 11/04 batch, new chips were ordered 4/4/05. Have you tested any of your chips to see if they are causing the same problem? You have to upload different data than is in the remote already. ie. do a download, change something, and then upload it. This is when the error occurs.

Yes I tested not only downloading but with uploading as well. I will do another test tonight if I have time.

OK. I have done more tests with the my usb interface. It appears all my USB chips have the same problem (ordered on April 13). Have to give delcom a call today.

Hi, since my first order was on April 13 and they are not working correctly. Could you please check the version of the firmware?

I got the following response from delcom:

What firmware version do have that works and that now doesn't work?
