I agree that it is probably a HW/SW issue on the HDTivo. Somehow Harmony either by design or accident is compensating for that problem.

Can you confirm that the commands that you posted below came from the Harmony. When I started analyzing those they look exactly like the commands I learned from the Tivo device upgrade in your IR file loaded into my HTPro.

Your first Harmony learned commands were different. Did you re-learn all the Harmony's commands?

Hey Cosmo,
Just in case someone here also has a Harmony and wants to experiment, how dod you program the Harmony to work the Tivo? Did you use learning, a built in code, or an upgrade from their web site? If it was a built in code or upgrade, could you provide specifics.

Hopefully someone with a Harmony can try sampling the signals themselves and then try tweeking the protocol to get a match.

Their software is web-based. You select TiVo from the drop down then send it a few learned codes that it specifically requests purely for it to determine the correct unit code. It doesn't actually learn in the sense that a OFA remote does. Once its done with all of the configuration it downloads an image to the remote much like IR.exe

Well, I was all set to start trouble shooting this morning and it appears that DirecTV updated the software to the box overnight and the problem has mysteriously and completely disappeared. I appreciate your help even if it was an amazing coincidence after living with this for many months!

Jon,

The latest file was created by learning selected keys from the Harmony remote with a urc8910. I would press and hold each key until it said "success". Just to state the obvious if you load the file with IR they are all the commands that appear on the learned tab.

Sorry for the hassle, the HD is now behaving with a recent SW update by DaveTV after nearly a year of this crazyness. It just proves that Dave is really watching from the other side of the screen?
