Programming Macros on device keys on a 8810w?

Post by SouthPaw »

Am I correct in assuming that the device keys can only be programmed when using an extender and not in the remotes non-extended state?

I jumped in feet first last week when I got my 8810w and loaded up the 6012ex3_2 extender before trying to program the device keys without an extender. After getting everything working the way I want it to with the extender, I showed a friend what a $18 remote can do. He is going to get one too and asked me if he needed the extender to program the device select keys or if he could do it without the extender. I did not know so I figured I'd ask here.

Thanks for any info!

There are very few that allow you to put macros on the device keys without the extender and if I remember correctly this is not one of them.

I think it is just the URC-8910/9910 and the RS-2116/2117 and there might be one or two others.

Absolutely correct (Nils does "remember correctly"). The 8810w is NOT one of the models that lets you reprogram device keys in any way without the extender.
