Hello All

I have just dowbloaded v.321b and run it.

I tried to load a file created in v3.00 and I am getting the error response :

List index out of bounds (-1)

Any ideas?

Regards

Fred F.

PS. I have uploaded the file to the files section :

Hi Fred, nice to hear you back!

I can't believe that this file was created with v3.00 since it's against all the rules of the ET80ET80 (...).RDF. Try to create it again.

The problem is not with IR exactly, it's with the RDF for the Topline. I can see that the [DeviceTypes] list changed between version 3.10 and version 3.11, but I don't know who changed it or why.

The old [DeviceTypes] looks like this...

[DeviceTypes]
SAT = 0
TV = 0
VCR = 2
CD = 3
AMP = 4
TUNER = 4
MISC_AUDIO = 4
LASER = 5
VID_ACC = 0, $0008
DVD = 3, $0709
HOME_CT = 6, $060A
PHONO = 3, $030B
CABLE = 1, $000C
TAPE = 6, $070D
DAT = 6, $070E
AMP2 = 4, $0604
TUNER2 = 4, $0605

Whereas the new list looks like this...

[DeviceTypes]
SAT = 0
TV = 0
VCR = 2
CD = 3
@AMP = 4
@TUNER = 4
MISC_AUDIO = 4
TAPE = 6, $070D
VID_ACC = 0, $0008
CABLE = 1, $000C
PHONO = 3, $030B
AMP = 4, $0604
TUNER = 4, $0605
HOME_CT = 6, $060A
LASER = 5, $0707
DVD = 3, $0709
DAT = 6, $070E

If you replace this section in the current RDF you will be able to open your file without any problems, but I'd like to know why the was RDF changed. (I don't know which version is more correct)

On 11/2/2002 this is what it looked like:
    [DeviceTypes]
    SAT = 0
    TV = 0
    VCR = 2
    CD = 3
    AMP = 4
    TUNER = 4
    MISC_AUDIO = 4
    LASER = 5
    VID_ACC = 0, $0008
    DVD = 3, $0709
    HOME_CT = 6, $060A
    PHONO = 3, $030B
    CABLE = 1, $000C
    TAPE = 6, $070D
    DAT = 6, $070E
    AMP2 = 4, $0604
    TUNER2 = 4, $0605

On 2/2/2003 it looked like this:
    [DeviceTypes]
    SAT = 0
    TV = 0
    VCR = 2
    CD = 3
    @AMP = 4
    @TUNER = 4
    MISC_AUDIO = 4
    TAPE = 6, $070D
    VID_ACC = 0, $0008
    CABLE = 1, $000C
    PHONO = 3, $030B
    AMP = 4, $0604
    TUNER = 4, $0605
    HOME_CT = 6, $060A
    LASER = 5, $0707
    DVD = 3, $0709
    DAT = 6, $070E

So, somewhere between 11/2/02 and 2/2/03 it changed but I can't see or find why or by whom. Also, after 2/2/03 it changed a number of times. Hopefully someone remembers why they or someone else changed it. The one that is in the V1.06 RDF's is based on the one from the IR321b distribution.

I don't know, if these dates are correct since I have both versions on my machine with date 6/11/02. The 5550 is as the same as the 8550 with less buttons, so the sign "@" should tell us, which buttons are only present on the 8550.

IIRC, it was the time as first Mark Pauker, then Jason Mitchell and me are working on the ability to set the remotes time and the home theater settings during an upload and on the extender for the Toplines too.

The RDF v1.06 is incomplete since it is missing the device types AMP ($0604) and TUNER ($0605). Furthermore there is no code for the time and home theater settings in it. I'll upload my own RDF to the RDF section of JP1, so you can look at it.

HTH, Uwe

Now I have 6 different versions. Ewe, I even had one around the June 2002 date you quoted but it is different. I think however, the version you posted is the most complete. Ewe, can I assume this RDF works for you since I don't have a way to test it other than to make sure IR and RM are happy with it. I will modify it for RM so it works there (actually already have.

I suspect however, it will still give Fred the error message so he may still have to do the mod that Rob suggested to make it work for him.

Rob, I also think you may have your old and new posted backwards so I am not sure which one will work for Fred.

I've tested Freds file with my RDF without time and ht support, that does the trick for Fred. I'll post this RDF temporarely in the RDF area of JP1.

Nils, to make your confusion perfectly, there is a third RDF for the Toplines with extender. I'll upload this too.

Should I include this as a version 1 and create a version 2 with HT and Time support?

I just pulled the one for the extender but I will look at yours to see if it is more current.

This made me realize there are a few extenders that are not in the RDF distribution so I am going to work on adding the missing ones like this one, the RCU810, Replay5K, 7560 and 1 or 2 others.

No. v1 is only needed for Freds file since v2 comes up with checksum errors. All Fred have to do is copy and paste his upgrades, protocols etc. to a new file, created with v2. Last but not least I think, every owner of a Topline is glad to use the HT and Time support.

You should give your attention the keycode for the LightToggle button. It should be $39, not $42. If there are problems Jason Mitchell (gjarboni) can help surely.

OK good. I will only distribute the v2 (obviously not called version 2) and the extender. I just finished the changes but will trash the v1.

I noticed the LightToggle and fixed it.

Thanks....

Hello All

Thanks for your replies.

I have been away for a few days, so have only just caught up with the correspondence.

Unfortunately some of the discussion is a bit 'above my head', so I wonder if someone would kindly just confirm the action I now need to take to put things right.

Kind regards and thanks again.

Fred, this is an easy one. All you need to do is download the RDF that Ewe created for you to replace the RDF you have. It is in the Yahoo files section Link===> [url=http://groups.yahoo.com/group/jp1/files/RDF%20Files/ET80ET80%20(Topline).rdf]Topline RDF[/url]

Hello All

Nils - I have followed your advice and it is now working fine.

Thanks to you all for your assistance.

Kind regards

Fred F.

PS. In case you are wondering why I have 30 Timed Macros, I am a keen radio fan, and use these to switch between the various networks we receive here in Europe via Satellite [NRP,WRN,RCI etc.] so that I have my own 'Personal Sation' which is playinging the programmes I like without having to change them manually.
