I am new to JP1, and recently got a modified URC-6131 from Rob Crowe.
For my first JP1 experience I used IR to try to make a backup of my remote. But when I download or upload to the 6131, I am getting strange results. Downloading to IR does have IR recognizing the remote as a 6131 (regular, not the extended version) but the codes for the device keys are all wrong from how I programmed the remote manually. If I modify the device codes in IR and upload to the remote my changes don't seem to work; the upload succeeds, but the remote seems unchanged.
I have IR 600 and the 118b versions of the RDF files, and I have tried changing the transmit delay to 250 in IR (1/2 speed), and other sets of batteries.
I really hope that I've missed something obvious.
(I've uploaded the 1st file I downloaded from the 6131 to the diagnosticcs section)

Your file is not there. Perhaps because it was full, but should be fine now.Hepcat wrote:(I've uploaded the 1st file I downloaded from the 6131 to the diagnosticcs section)
Please upload it again.

By not providing a link to your file, you sent Hal off looking in the wrong place, here's a link to the file in question.
The file itself looks perfectly normal, I don't see any problems there.
Try doing a master reset on the remote itself (ie, using the 981 command) and then try re-loading the file.

mtakahar: I apologize for not leaving a link to that file.
RobMan: When I do a 981 MFG Reset on the 6131 I get 4 flashes from the LED, not 2. The remote does reset operationally, but the memory that IR sees does not change at all.
After playing with this for awhile, I can see the pattern; The remote responds to manual programming only. I can upload any file, even a new, totally blank file to the 6131 (and download it again to confirm that the file was uploaded accurately) but this new file won't change the operation of the remote at all. If I make a manual change to the remote, the change works, but the change is not reflected in the memory that IR sees when it downloads from the remote; the memory that IR sees is identical from before and after manual changes.

That's totally weird. If the EEPROM wasn't soldered in properly, you wouldn't get the 4 blinks after a reset. The fact that you do get them implies that the EEPROM is accepted by the remote, but the fact that the remote is not recognizing the EEPROM contents doesn't make sense.
I'm inclined to think that it's a problem with the remote itself, so you should return it to me for a replacement.
