Additionally, I did manage to use the learning functions to learn power, channel, and volume buttons from other universal remotes (non-JP1).
Do those learned signals actually work? What you posted later looks like it is more probably bad learns.
Anyway we can't learn much about problem signals by looking at a copy of the output from DecoderIr and IR.EXE. We need the whole .ir file (from IR.EXE's file/save command, including several learned signals). And don't post that in a message, upload it to the diagnosis folder and post the URL for that in a message.

But it would be nice if I did not have to use the learnt buttons on the 8910 instead of power, channel and volume buttons.
The 8910 is not actually limited (as the documentation would make you believe) to learning on just the learning buttons. You can learn directly onto most buttons (including channel and volume). Also in IR.EXE you can edit a learned signal's entry to change which button it is on.
I don't recall whether learned signals on the power button work on the 8910 (there's some model where they don't). But on channel and volume I know they do work.
Switching from learned signals to an upgrade would still be better. We might need more than those four signals to figure out enough about the protocol to help you with an upgrade. Can you learn digits? Also make sure you have good batteries in the other remote when learning from it.
Also, what is the other (universal) remote and what setup code is it using? Someone here may know how to use that info to help you.
