As my first foray into using IR vs. native learned keys, I was using the list of VCR/0616 in the beginners' guide to do this:

I have a 8910, with the CBL device mapped as a VCR/0616. I had had ffwd and rrwd learned as Quick Skip and Instant Replay from the Replay remote. Now, what I'm trying to do is create key moves in IR as follows (example is for ffwd and QS):

(Did we get a better way to do this? I can post the raw file at Yahoo if that helps...)

In the KeyMoves tab:
Bound Key is VCR/ffwd
Device is the obvious CBL -> VCR 0616
EFC is 731 for QS, 342 for Instant Replay

IR likes all of this, it appears to download fine, but nothing at all happens when I use the buttons (and now I notice that the remote's not even transmitting at all...)

So, I must have missed a basic step. Any ideas? Thanks!

Edit: It's unclear from the doc... if we can't use these EFCs until we add them to the 0616 (here) file, is that it?

Now that you've setup key moves, did you delete the corresponding learned signals?

If you have VCR/0616 assigned to the CBL button, you want CBL as the Bound Device.

Yep, already had deleted the learned keys. Changing the Bound Device did it. So 'Bound Device' means the original, which sure isn't intuitive. Thanks!

Well, think about this: I believe the 8910 is an 8 device remote. There's no rule that says you can't define all 8 as TV devices. Now, How would IR know just which of those 8 TV devices is the bound key you wanted? It will however know the native description of the device keys.

Yeah, my bad, and I expect to have two RTV's down the road, so you do need tell it where to go. Perhaps the terminology should be 'Orig Device' or something, but I sure don't expect IR to be changed! Smile
