Panasonic Th-42px20 HDTV And Discrete Codes

All,

I have the Panasonic TH-42PX20. I also have the URC-6131 (mod by Rob) and I am attempting to load the discreate code I uncovered (via this forum..thanks) using IR (v.6.00). I converted the Pronto HEX in ERC codes e.g. comp1 =004, comp 2 = 008....but none them seem to work....can anyone shed some light? Thanks.

Is this device an HDTV receiver or a TV. Have you found a built in setup code (or upgrade) that works it? If so, what is it?

If you have found Pronto hex for the discrete codes in question, please post it.

To decode the pronto hex yourself use IRTool.

My semi-wild guess is he tried to use EFC numbers for Panasonic:128.4 in a setup code for Panasonic:128.0

Edit: I forgot to mention there are lots of upgrades already in our files area for combos of Panasonic:128.0 and Panasonic:128.4. I haven't dug up a URL for one, because I'm busy at the moment (and he could do that himself).

Continued from other forum:

EFC numbers do not have global meaning. An EFC number means something in the context of a specific setup code. So EFC numbers 004 and 008 are the right EFC numbers for the signals discussed in that other thread, but only if the KeyMove selects a setup code for Panasonic:128.4

Hey..thanks everyone...I used the IR Tool to decode the Pronto Hex, see below but in IR I am using code 0250 for the Panasonic HDTV plasma so the setup code is not 128.4

I am assuming then that I will need to build a new setup for the panasonic tv in Remote master? I am not sure how to do this though. I know how to create keymoves and macros in IR but setting up the new file is new to me..should I look for a TV file close to my TV type (since I have not been able to find an upgrade from the TH-42PX20)?

If you want to keep using TV/0250 (the built-in setup code for 128.0) and create KeyMoves for all the 128.4 commands, you shouldn't look for an existing 128.4 upgrade. Just use KM or RM and enter the selection for Panasonic, device 128, subdevice 4 on the setup sheet.

That "dummy" upgrade (no function nor button definitions needed) is then ready to by copied over to IR.EXE. Once it's there, you don't need to assign it to any device key. You can simply define the KeyMoves you wanted using the EFC numbers you know, and using that as the setup code.

If you don't know all the EFC numbers or you want a good record of how they were derived: Go back to the dummy upgrade in KM or RM. For KM, make sure it's in OBC mode, not EFC mode. Then enter the known OBC numbers from that other forum and KM/RM will compute the EFC numbers. Save that upgrade for future reference.

2)

If you don't want to keep using TV/0250, but want a whole new setup code. Then you don't want a setup code for 128.4, you want one that combines both 128.0 and 128.4 (so you'll probably need fewer KeyMoves and KM/RM will compute any needed KeyMoves for you).

That is most easily done by starting with one of the files Rob listed.

OK, Here's what I did and it didn't work..but I am probably doing something wrong.

1) I went in remote master and just setup the "setup tab" as seen below:

2) Then I went to the output tab and did a "copy". I didn't setup anything else in RM

3) Next I went to IR, devices tab and added a new device

I couldn't get to that third image.
The first two look right.

I didn't compare model numbers in that other thread. Do we know for sure these commands are recognised by your model? Many Panasonic models use the same basic commands and if they support certain advanced commands at all, the command codes are the same. But some of the models are simply missing some of the commands.

According to other posts on remotecentral etc, my TV supports these codes but I have no concrete evidence to support that claim.

I don't see the error:

It looks like TV/1250 is correctly defined as Panasonic:128.4 and correctly installed in IR.

It looks like TV:Thumbs_Down and TV:Thumbs_Up are correctly defined as TV/1250 OBCs 124 and 125.

Maybe some other expert will see something I missed.

Usually we prefer to have the .ir file (as it is right before you upload to the remote for testing) stored in the diagnosis folder diagnosis (and it's URL posted back here) rather than seeing BMP's of screen shots. Now that I've looked at the BMPs I can't see how that would help, but other experts may think otherwise.

Also, when you want to use image files on the web, it's a much better idea to use JPG or GIF files, rather than BMP files. Not only are JPGs and GIFs alot smaller than BMPs, they are also required if you want to use the [img] tag, like you tried in your earlier post.

Once you've loaded the IR file for John to look at, please post a link to it to save him having to search for it himself.
