Disc Skip code for "0533" Sony DVD Player

Post by njl »

Hi Everyone-

I'm looking for the code for the "disc skip" button on my "0533" Sony DVD player (DVP-NC600). I've tried several of the codes I've seen on here and various other sites (173, several others), but none of them seem to work. I have sucessfully gotten the codes for "select disc 1, select disc 2", etc to work, but I'd rather just have "disk skip" on one button (original remote set up this way). Does anybody have any suggestions? I'm trying to avoid going through all 256 codes.

My remote is the OFA URC-6131 (what a great remote .. and on sale a Best Buy for $11 ... can't beat it).

Thanks in advance for any help you can provide.

Best Regards,
NJ

You might try the advanced code "set" 173 , this corresponds to disk skip under the protocol used by the 0533 code , I believe (Sony20, dev26, subdev73 - OBC63).

EDIT: OOPS I misread your original post (thought you said 171) but the next paragraph still applies.

There is a chance however that the needed code is not part of the 0533 set , since this is one of the newer machines designed by their sales department rather than the engineering dept. (They [sales] are responsible for the mish-mash of remote codes in use by Sony right now)
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.

Steve and NJ,
You can find practically every Sony code in existance on Rob H's Sony site. If you check the page of DVD codes you'll see that most of the buttons use Sony20 device code 26.73, which corresponds to DVD/0533, but there's a bunch of additional functions that use Sony20 device code 26.98, which doesn't have an equivilent UEI setup code, and the DISK SKIP button (OBC 62) is one of these buttons.

So NJ, if you are a JP1 user, all you need to do is create a dummy upgrade using the Sony20 protocol with 26 as the main device code and 98 as the sub-device code, then program a keymove against this upgrade where the EFC is 177. If you are not a JP1 user, there's really nothing you can do I'm afraid. The best you could do is replace the remote with a learning remote and learn the button from the original remote.
