Firstly, thanks goes out to Rob for the quick shipping on my 2117 Smile

I have worked out most things in relation to the remote and I am trying to create some macros etc. I have found discrete codes that should work on my Samsung RP TV to get it to switch to AV1 without having to cycle through all AV optioons. The codes I have found are hex codes (two digits for each function). How do I use them?

Well first off, check the file section to see if there's already an upgrade that includes these discrete codes (no need to re-invent the wheel, right?)

If there isn't then this is the sort of thing where there isn't one standard answer, as I don't know exactly how the hex code that you found is formatted.

I would recommend that you post a copy of the list with the hex codes in the new Diagnosis Area (ie, follow the "File Section" link at the top of this page) then post a link to it here in this thread. Then also mention either what setup code you are using, or if you are using an upgrade - please mention which one, or if you created the upgrade yourself, please mention what the protocol and device codes are. In the latter case, please also list the OBCs or EFCs for a few standard buttons, we would need this as a reference point to confirm the format of the hex codes that you posted.

Usually Samsung uses the NECx2 Protocol device 7 and sub-device 7. The hex by each function represents when converted to decimal what we call OBC. But there are several different Samsung display command sets floating around, so as Rob says, post the data sheet. That way we can also see if there is something new.

Here's the file with the hex code listings...

http://www.hifi-remote.com/forums/dload.php?action=download&file_id=1189

At the moment I can use setup code 1060 or 0060 and both control most functions of the TV including cycling through inputs but neither can go direct to AV1.

The hex codes in that file are simply the OBC in hex format, so to convert them back to decimal OBCs you can use this formula =hex2dec(D5) - where "D5" is the cell containing the hex code.

Here are the OBCs from the file...

OBC - Function
153 - Power On
152 - Power Off
132 - Video 1
248 - Video 2
249 - Video 3
133 - S-Video 1
250 - S-Video 2
251 - S-Video 3
134 - Component 1
136 - Component 2
253 - Component 3
139 - HDMI 1
254 - HDMI 2
105 - VGA(PC) 1
138 - DVI 1
255 - DVI 2
083 - Aspect Ratio (4:3) Zoom 1
225 - Aspect Ratio (4:3) Zoom 2
226 - Aspect Ratio (4:3) Panorama
227 - Aspect Ratio (4:3) 4 : 3
228 - Aspect Ratio (4:3) 16 : 9
229 - Aspect Ratio (4:3) Auto Format
027 - Auto Wide RF1(TV)
067 - Auto Wide DTV
077 - IEEE 1394 1
230 - IEEE 1394 2
231 - IEEE 1394 3

Older Sets

OBC - Function
250 - S-Video 2
251 - S-Video 3
134 - Component 1
136 - Component 2
253 - Component 3
138 - DVI 1
027 - RF 1
