URC 6131 and sharp CD changer CD-C460

Post by chaogui »

I have a one-for-all 6131 non-JP1 remote which works perfectly with my tivo and TV, but I have been trying for like a week to find a code for my old audio system, which is a Sharp CD changer, model no. CD-C460. The system also has tape cassette player and radio built in as well as dolby pro logic receiver.

I tried the CD player code in the manual for Sharp, but none of the three work and there's no code for Sharp audio receiver in the manual. The customer service representative gave me the one for other one-for-all remote to try and it of course didn't work since it's not in the remote. She said I could send it to them to have it upgraded, but I would rather get it JP1 ready and mess with it a bit myself if I have to send it out.

Any of you have any idea of how to get it to work, without sending it out if possible. Thanks a lot in advance!

P.S. If it helps, the original remote model no. RRMCG0093AWSA

In order to mess with the remote yourself, you will need to solder in an EEPROM chip and a 6-pin connector, then (assuming we have the code info somewhere) you will be able to upgrade the remote yourself.

If you send the remote in, they will substitute it for one that already has an EEPROM and 6-pin installed, plus they'll load the code for you. Heck, they'll even pay for the return postage.

But it will only be a 1K EEPROM , which will work just fine but will preclude the ability to use an extender in the future. I did it with my first two 6131's to get the official codes for two devices (Hauppauge PVR250 and Cyberhome CH-DVD300). I ended up re-upgrading mine to a 2K EEPROM. The RDF's have also been written for the 2K version so you may see some error messages initially with the 1K version and IR.exe may give you false information as to how much upgrade and macro space that you have available. (Some of these references may not mean anything to you now but will when you get more familiar with JP1 remotes)

HAPPY NEW YEAR , by the way.

Thank you for your replies. I sent an email to customer support again and will probably send the remote to them once they reply and tell me where to send it.

Thanks again.
