arg, that stinks

I am trying to find a remote less than 30 to work with my Lite-On keyboard, model SK7551. I got a Philips DVD6 remote, but it doesnt learn anything so I am going to have to bring it back. Learned from my tv remote like it should, but not from my IR keyboard :(

Unlikely. But you won't go too far over 30 if you order the 8811 plus JP1 cable from Rob at

IR keyboards are hard for a learning remote to get right. I expect the 8811 can't get it by learning alone (and couldn't store enough of the signals even if it can learn them).

Usually the person trying to learn the signals posts the imperfectly learned versions and Jon figures out the full protocol and invents a JP1 upgrade. I haven't checked whether that's been done already for your model.

On the other hand, many retail stores (Radio Shack, etc.) carry all the parts you'd need to BUILD a cable, even if you had to buy the tools too...

The 6-hole IDC connector isn't carried at Radio Shack, you would need to buy it from an online electronics store like Mouser, and by the time you've paid for shipping, etc you would have ended up spending more than if you just bought one direct from Hovis Direct or Filebug. If you want a remote and cable, I can sell you both of those. The 8811/cable combo that John mentioned would be $38 shipped (ie, $19 + $15 + $4).

Yeah, I think I will do it.

As long as it will definately work with my Lite-On IR receiver for my keyboard/mouse.

I can see the IR keystrokes when using girder, so I guess I can put them in the remote using JP1

I'll sell you a cable for $15 plus $5 shipping if you want. I'll send it Global Priority Mail so it should get there in a few days.
