learned functions into remote with extender3?

Post by DarkHelmet »

Hello group.

I have an issue. I just got comcast's dvr, a Motorola 6412 and I am trying to get my 15-1994 to control the unit. I have been searching for already provided solutions in the regular places. Google, the yahoo group and remote central etc... I do have the remote from the unit, so I can learn the functions, but extender 3 does not allow learning. I have also looked at all the similar device setups and tried them. Some work partial. I also found the pronto ccf file for the unit.

I have a backup 15-1994 so I can use that to learn the functions with and maybe get them into my other remote with extender3 used. But I am not sure how to do that.

The data from the pronto ccf that i ran through decodeccf and it looks quite complete. Could that be easily worked into something usable by IR?

So what is my best option?

Thanks.

If it were true that there weren't any JP1 upgrades available, you could indeed use your 15-1994 to learn the signals. Installing an extender is non an irreversible process. To un install the extender, all you have to do is load a saved non-extender image. Then you can learn the signals, decode them and use the info to create upgrades.

But in this case, that's all moot because there are several upgrades available for the Motorola DVRs:

Motorola - DCT6208-RS15-1994.txt
HD-DVR Mot 6208 with RS 15-1994 Remote (includes Skip Forward and Replay)

Motorola - DCT6208-RS15-2116.txt
Motorola DCT6208 with Replay, Skip, Live, DVR

Motorola - DCT6208-URC8810.txt
Motorola DCT 6208 - adds DVR functionality, discrete codes, and ad skip function

Rob,

Thanks for your reply. I guess I should have been more complete in my description, but I have already tried those files. But unfortunatly they work partialy, but none of the buttons match up at all.

I tried again, and found "Motorola - DCT6208-RS15-1994.txt " To be not far off. Will do some more testing to see how close I can get it.

Thanks.

Areyou remembering to change the selected remote to 15-1994 before you load the upgrade. Also, I think most of those upgrades are missing the SWAP button, the EFC for which is 236.
