transferring from a 15-2104 to a 15-2116

Post by dankehoe1 »

hi guys. its been a couple years since i have posted. i was very involved at one time, got a lot of great help from rob and the gang, thanks, but my brain works on the use it or lose it pricible. i have a 2104 that actually still works fine, but i got the bug to spend some money today and went out and got a 2116. i want to transfer all the config settings from the 2104 to the 2116. i tried to simply upload the 2104s data to the 2116, but of course that doesnt work and i wound up corrupting the memory. ok, so i did a full mfg reset, and got rid of the mem fault error. but i still want to pull this off. specifically, i would like to regain the "theater" mode power up, power down feature that was in the 2104. the 2116s "theater" mode is now called "my system" but the power button does not apply. i want to power all of my components up simultaneously. can i do this with the 2116? also, i want to regain the functionality of my xbox remote that i had on 2104 under the aux device key, but 2116s aux wont accept the 0522 code that i had in the 2104 for the xbox. a lot of questions, i know, but can you help? thanks. dan

There is no one-shot program that will convert your 15-2104 file into a 15-2116 file, nor is there ever likely to be one because it would be very difficult to write. So, sorry to say, you're gonna have to start over and do it from scratch.

As for the 0522 code, that's a DVD code, not an audio code, so you should assign it to the DVD button on the 15-2116. You can program it to any other button to, just be sure to select DVD mode first.

thanks rob. basically, i have already reconstructed the d base on the 2116. as for the 0522 code, i had had it assigned to the aux key and not the dvd key in the 2104. (i already have my apex dvd player assigned to the dvd button in the 2116.) i cant remember just how to go about that in km. can i just load the txt file frim ir into km and remap the aux key to function in dvd mode and assign the 0522 to it? and any hope for the power function to get all components to go on and off together? sorry for the noob like questions, its been a while. thanks, dan

If you're using the built-in DVD/0522 setup code, you can assign it to any device button on the 15-2116 that you like, either by selecting DVD mode in IR, or by selecting DVD mode when you program the remote manually.

If you're using an upgrade, and you want to make the device mode match the button that, you can simply change the device mode in KM.

i do still seem to have a problem with the power thing. i went in ir and create a new macro, bound key=power macro keys=dvd, tv, audio(kenwood vr-309 av rcvr0, cable. uploaded to 2116, when i press power, i see the led on the 2116 cycling through the different devices, but no power signal is being sent. its just selecting the various devices. i want it to send power signals to all the devices. i had no problem doing this with the 2104. any help?

If this doesn't work...

macro keys=dvd, tv, audio, cable

try this...

macro keys=dvd, power, tv, power, audio, power, cable, power
