Upgrading URC-8910

Post by Paul1965 »

Has anyone contacted One For All about upgrading a remote? I have the URC-8910, and need it to control my Sony STR-DE875 home theater receiver. When I search for the code on the One For All website, it tells me it doesn't exist, but my remote can be upgraded, and to call a number. What do they do? Send you a new remote, or figure out how to get the correct code? Just curious. Thanks.

The 8910 has a sort of "modem" installed, so they would just play you the upgrade over the phone and your remote would pick it up.

Of course, a much better idea is for you to get a JP1 cable and upgrade the remote yourself.

I chose to use KM and figured out how to program it the way I want instead. Thanks though.

Yes. Once I re-read the instructions, it was nothing to customize the remote. The only problem is, I'll probably have to do it all over again as I'm getting rid of it. I hate the donut!!!

If you get the "arrow key" version of the URC-8910 or 9910 instead, you can simply re-load your current config into the new remote.
