Two seperate IR codes

Australia is a long way away when it takes a week for the JP1 cable to arrive - none the less more time to read the forum and help guides..
After a non productive search my question is to be placed on the forum.
I am attempting to program an Australian GE TV - I have the original remote and have thus far successfully programmed some codes through the latest version of IR and KM onto a Kameleon URC 9960. I note however that my original remote has seperate buttons for power on and power off - how do I program two codes (for on and off) onto the one power button on the Kameleon. I have already programmed the power off button from the original onto the power button.....

I assume your TV uses a standard protocol that's supported by KM. If so, I would recommend that you take a look at the functions that you've learned and observe the OBC pattern. If you notice any gaps in the code sequence, it might be worth testing these codes to see if one of them is a power toggle command. Normally we do this in reverse, in other words the original remote usually just has a power button, then we go searching for discrete power commands.

Whenever we're talking about testing new signals on a TV, it's a good idea to mention that there is some risk involved in doing this, because some TVs have a secret RESET code that returns the set to the factory default settings and this can be difficult to get back from. Also, most TVs have some sort of service menu, which is often accessible using secret codes, so if when testing these codes you get some strange displays on the screen, don't change any settings that might be changeable in these screens, just power the set off and on, then continue.

If you don't find a power toggle code, or don't want to search for one, your other option is to use the ToadTog special protocol.

Also, don't forget to load your KM file into the file section for others to share.

Thankyou I shall try that this evening. Out of interest I used to have the same brand GE VCR (now defunct). The remote control for the VCR(dont have it anymore) had the one button for power on / off as compared to the TV remote which has seperate power on / off. Not sure if this makes a difference?

Not sure I explained the above all that well....the VCR remote control used to control the TV on / off with the one button. Does this mean it used the one code as I presume that devices will react to more than one code..

Are you able to work the VCR using one of the built in setup codes or better yet, did you find an upgrade that works it? If you have an upgrade, does it use the same protocol as the TV (but with different device codes)? If so, compare the OBCs or EFCs, are they similar? If so, try the OBC (or EFC) for the VCR's POWER button on the TV and see what happens.

If you have upgrade files for either of these devices, please load them up to the file section and post links to them here so we can look at them.

If you're using a built in setup code for the VCR, state what it is and I'll provide an upgrade file for it.

There are no obvious gaps in the OBC pattern - the power on OBC is 062 with the power off OBC 029

If you don't find a power toggle code, or don't want to search for one, your other option is to use the ToadTog special protocol.

So, I couldnt find a power toggle either and as a newbie, and taking advice from other users, I will first get comfortable using the software before installing extenders / ToadTog. I have done a small workaround for the time being to get me through by assigning power off to a seperate button.

As for the VCR I dont have it or the remote anymore so cant use it.
