15-2116 Extender 2 LKP problems

Post by brunow »

I can't seem to get the LKP protocol to work properly on my remote. I've tried extenders 2 and 3 from scratch without any luck.

Because I had problems with what I was trying originally I decided to start ultra simple. I've tried to put a LKP programming it as a keymove on FFWD button in AUX mode (which controls my receiver). The command is supposed to be delay 8, power for short key press, mute for long key press.

This the the keymove detail:
Device Type: TV
Setup code: 1106
Hex CMD: $81 $03 $08

The strange thing is every time I hit FFWD and then switch back to TV mode I see device code displayed for my TV is decremented by 1. Other times the remote resets or hangs.

File available here: http://www.novuscom.net/~bwalter/LKP-Broken.txt

Thanks in advance,
Bruno

This is the problem I think, the LKP device is MISC/1106 not TV/1106. (The documentation I had a quick look at does seem at best ambiguous, MISC/1106 is the device you can see in the devices tab of IR)

Thanks guys. Guess I should have looked a bit more closely at the device upgrades that were actually on the remote. I'll try it tonight when I get home.

Thanks guys, it works flawlessly now. The possibilities of what can be done with this remote are amazing. I'm using most of the features now, custom mode names, toadtogs, device specific macros, pauses, and thanks to your help long key presses.

Programming it isn't for the average person but to someone with a bit of computer savy the capabilities of this remote are right up there with remotes priced well beyond what I'd ever consider paying.

I like it so much I couldn't resist a deal on the somewhat similar RCA RCU810. ($15 CAD vs the $40 CAD I paid for the RS 15-2116 which I thought was a deal as Walmart sells the URC-8811 for $35 CAD)
