15-1994 w/ReplayTV 5040: Can't get Replay Guide working

Post by gisborne »

New at all this (at it a couple of hours).

I loaded ReplayTV-8811.txt into RemoteMaster, changed the device to 15-1994 (why are there like six of these..?). Went to the diagram, and dragged the Replay Guide onto the Surround and Mute buttons. Then copied the Device Upgrade and Upgrade Protocol over to IR, and uploaded it.

I can operate just about everything I need on the ReplayTV, except for Replay Guide, but that's one of the most important functions.

Can anyone tell me slowly, using small words, how I might go about fixing this?

Many thanks in advance.

They are different versions, one for the basic remote and then versions for those remotes with extenders installed.

Someone might know what this is without any further detail, but you'd probably be better off posting your .IR file in the diagnosis area, read the sticky on posting links to yahoo (if you don't you'll almost certainly do it wrong even if the link appears to work) and then post a link to it. That way it'll be easier to see what's going on and for someone to help.

Given the keys you've listed two guesses though (1) mute is part of volume punch through, if you use volume punch through then this will be coming from the punch through device. (2) Surround requires the use of a keymove, RM will have created a keymove, but if you didn't have the device already setup in IR, or didn't respond to the warning message correctly the keymove could have been "lost".

You could test the the function by trying the EFC associated with it (assuming you're not using an extender , I think) by using "set" 083 . Also assuming the originator didn't confuse the command name. Channel-guide or menu would be the obvious second choice (you could double check these too , EFC's 226 and 194).
Just call me Zaphod (or Steve) --- I never should have started using numbers in a screen name but I just can't stop now.
