Wow, I haven't been around for a while. Once I get a remote programmed I don't tend to mess with it. Welcome to the new forum. At lest we will not have to see all the pop up ads when online viewing.

OK I'm getting my 3rd PVR508 today....

I have a unit on a 1994 as unit code 1
I have a unit on an RCU810 as unit code 2

The third will be unit 3 on a 1994.

But, in keymap master with the 1994 selected, changing the unit code doesn't have any effect on the defice upgrade (protocol is Dishplayer-Old).

If I switch to the RCU-810, the 7th word changes when I modify the unit code.

What am I missing? Are unit codes supported on the 15-1994?

I also noticed that in keymap master when the RCU810 is selected "DigitMap Enabled" appears (not for the 1994).

Thanks

There are at least three different versions of the protocol 0002 (that does Dishplayer old). They differ in where the unit is encoded. It might be in the fixed data or it might be in the hex command.

I don't know much about how KM handles those versions of 0002. RM (Remote Master, which is a Java alternative to KM) makes sure that OBC and unit values are consistent across versions of 0002. An EFC based upgrade is unlikely to be consistent across versions regardless of what KM or RM does because the EFCs aren't consistent.

Remote Master....
I have been gone awhile - I'll go take a look.

Is Remote Master replacing KM?

Thanks.

PS: I learned the codes from different addressed Echostar remotes, IR is identifying them with different sub device codes, but KM doesn't have any sub-devices when the 1994 is selected....

The thing that IR calls a "sub device" is more accurately labelled "unit code" in KM.

When you change the unit code in KM it changes the hex codes generated for each button but it is important to be using OBC mode (for the reasons John specified). So, if you are not using OBC mode, use the SWAP button to switch over to OBCs.

Just FYI, unit code 0 = unit code 1
