To diagnose that you need more data on what went wrong in the upload. I suggest:

1) Save a backup of your current config.
2) Get or create in IR an image of a significantly different config.
3) Save that as a file from IR immediately before uploading it to the remote.
4) Assuming the remote gives that error on upload, download it back and save in a different file.
5) Diff the two files. Assuming they ARE different, post the files in the diagnosis folder and one of the experts can probably figure it out.

The memory has become corrupted. The only known way to clear this is to do a full MFR RESET, as detailed in my post dated 08/12/03 10:48 here:

Sorry to labor this, but just to be 100% sure we're talking about the same thing, did you use the regular RESET function that is easily visible in the LCD menu system and is described in the printed manual, or did you use the RESET procedure that I described in the thread that I linked to?

The regular RESET will NOT clear this problem, but a full MFR RESET will.

OK, so you did do the right RESET. What do you do next, are you trying to upload the same file all the time? If so, maybe there's something in this file that's causing the problem. Are you able to download and then re-load (without making any changes) to the remote? If you can't even do this much, then I'd suggest that there's something wrong with your cable. Did you make it yourself or buy it from one of the vendors?

I had this same problem with my 2116 and the simple interface but it never happened with the ultra interface.

If I remember correctly, it happened less frequently with fresh batteries or with no batteries. I think the 2116 is more sensitive to battery state with the simple interface which we know can be expected with many remotes.

This by the way has only happened with the 2116 and no other remotes that I have.
