Change menu keys in My System on 15-2117 via macro

Post by evarney »

I've tried searching all over for this topic, but to no avail.

Like many of you, I currently have macros assigned to shifted device buttons in order to turn them on and adjust the TV/receiver to the respective discrete input(s). However, I would like to be able to change the menu keys in My Sytem mode back and forth between the cable device and the DVD player as an added feature within the macros. I would imagine that this has been done before, but I can't seem to figure it out or find it. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

With the extender that operation is trivial and well documented in the extender readme file.

Without the extender, there is an "advanced select" special protocol in the special protocol spreadsheet which can do that. I don't know whether that spreadsheet has the 15-2117 (same as 15-2116) register numbers in it or whether you'd need to ask a 15-2116 expert. I also don't know if the documentation is good enough to get you through that.

I think most people who want features like that use the extender, so there isn't much discussion here for the non extender methods.

Thanks for the info. I was trying to get around using extenders if possible, but it seems like that might be the best way to go about doing this.

Time to start reading up again I guess...

Cheers!
