URC-9960 Shift Button issues

Post by matteastburn »

OK i have uploaded/upgraded 2 new devices to my remote - now i wish to use both on the same device button (AUX) but using the SHIFT key (Setup Key).

So i have set one of devices setup codes to the AUX device - i then did the appropiate key moves from the second device to the shifted keys on the AUX device.

AUX shift-AUX
power(dev1) power(dev2)
1(dev1) 1(dev2)
2(dev2) 2(dev2)
3(dev3) 3(dev2)
4(dev4) 4(dev2)

now all the non shifted buttons work fine, however only the power(dev2) button works - the other 4 do nothing.

I realise that the Shift Key has to be hit each time for shift work (is there a way to keep the shift key on - or is this X-Shift and requires an extender?)

I have seen the Home Key light up though when i hit the setup key then hit one of buttons on the numeric keypad - this probably has something to do with it.

The Shift (Setup) key has to be pressed twice in order to shift the number buttons. This is true for nearly all JP1 remotes, and I'm sure this will put a crimp in your plans. You might want to look over the Device Multiplexer or Device Toggler in the special protocols. I think one of these can be made to work. If not, then an extender will certainly allow you to swap devices.

This is exactly what the Device Multiplexer & Device Toggler are for. You can use them to switch the setup code assigned to a device by pressing a button. You can find them in the Special Protocols folder in the Yahoo group files section. The special-protocols spreadsheet makes it fairly easy to set them up for your remote.
