This isn't a new remote, it's a very well known remote, so yes, there's alot of people here with experience with it. There's a file in the Hardware folder that explains how to modify it for JP1 use.

Sorry. It is the same and it does need the eeprom, the 6-pin connector and the jumper. I assume that does not qualify for your "easy upgrade" (Rob and some others find it pretty easy. I wouldn't even consider trying. I can't guess where you fit in between those extremes.)

I should probably have made it more clear, the URC-6012W and the URC-6011 are exactly the same remote, the only difference is that the 6012 is sold at Walmart and the 6011 is sold everywhere else.

The file in the hardware folder is called urc-6012w-eeprom.txt and has the description "Advice on how to solder an EEPROM chip into the URC-6012w, URC-6011, URC-6131 and URC-8011 remotes.".

As for the "easy" question, the first question is "are you comfortable soldering?", if you answer no to that question (as John would), then this mod is not for you. If you are comfortable soldering, and furthermore are comfortable soldering surface mount components, then you will find the mod incredibly easy. Only you can decide which description fits you best.
