How do I change a TiVo IR code

Maybe I said it wrong .... :)

Someone, a long time ago, created devices for my 2 TiVos using IR remote code (unit code?) 1 and IR remote code 2 for my 6131.

#1 was device code 2001 setup as DVD/VCR device
#2 was device code 2002 setup as DVD/VCR device

They were both identical but 1 is controlling a Series 1 DirecTiVo and 2 is controlling a Series 1 Standalone TiVo

How/what do I do to change the one that uses IR code 2 to become IR code 3? I don't need a 3rd one, I just need to change 2 to 3.

Obviously you can tell from my message I don't have a clue. I looked at the 2 already existing and they seem to be identical other then the

You need to open up the text files from the KM device upgrades for VCR/2001 amd VCR/2002 in KM and look at the unit code. If the two upgrades are unit 0 and unit 1, then change the one with unit 1 to unit 2. I think that IRCode 1=Unit 0. But that should be obvious when you open the KM files.

Once you have made that change, in IR delete the old VCR/2002 and add the new VCR/2002tehn upload to your remote. Look here for the details about how to do all that.

BTW, why not change the Tivo to IR Code 2 to match the remote?
