URC 8910 and Sony RX88 Mini-Audio System

Post by rgireesan »

Hallo!

I am a beginner to JP1, with my 8910 I have been able to learn codes for my Samsung 100 Hz TV, Elta Divx Player and LG VCR successfully.

But problems crop up when I try to program my URC 8910 for my Sony RX-88 Mini Audio System. This combo system consists of two cassette decks, a 3-cd changer and a tuner. I was able to learn all the codes from the original remote, but when I upload them to the remote through ir.exe they don't work at all.

Now the codes seem to be Sony 12 and Sony 20, with 4 subdevices for Sony 20. There were no Sony 15 codes. Nevertheless I chose the Sony Combo 12/15/20 code as it seemed to be the best suited. I have spent a couple of hours trying to change the settings in the spreadsheet, etc. But nothing seems to work.

Any pointers to a solution will be appreciated. I can post the text file generated by Excel if required.

By the way, I am not able learn any codes from the remote control of my Onkyo MiniDisc recorder. I know this is not a JP1 problem, but again, any answers will be appreciated.

Thanks and regards

have you tried using this ready made upgrade: Sony-MHC-MG310AV-SonyCombo.txt, which is described as "Sony MHC-MG310AV mini-system. Includes lots of codes not on the original remote".

Thanks for the tip, will try it out right away. Regarding the MiniDisc Recorder, it turned out that the Nec1/Nec2 codes generated by the original remote could be captured, only when the original remote was held at a very awkward angle and at some distance away from the 8910. And it still took 3 or 4 captures of each button, to produce an acceptable code in ir.exe

Regards.
