15-1994 replacement ?

Post by ronr1999@yahoo.com »

Which of the newer style remotes would most closely match my 15-1994 ? I'm totally happy with the functioning of my 1994 so extra capabilities are a necessity.

Do the newer remotes have longer lasting buttons ?

Can I use JP1 to copy directly over from the 1994 to this new remote or have to start from scratch ?

Thanks to all for the help !

I may have answered my own question. Looks like the Radio Shack 15-2116 will be a good upgrade to my 1994...

With the 15-2116 you gain an extra device button and an LCD screen, but you lose the 4 smart keys.

Btw, if you don't need your old 15-1994, I'd be happy to give it a home.

Rob,
We really should have a Remote Hall of Fame. The 15-1994 would have to first inductee. I beginning to think the 2117 may one day reside there as well.

And the classic URC-7800 Cinema 7 would deserve a place there also! :)

It actually just dawned on me that you revealed those particular predilections a long time ago:

The closest remote I have with a layout similar to the URC-7800 would be the Rat Shack 15-1935. I've just never found a remote that feels as comfortable in my hand as the 1994 prototype. 'course my Significant Other has a whole theory about that! --but I won't entertain those perverted projections :P
