URC-9960 (OFA kameleon 8 in 1) Memory lost!!

Post by yoreh »

Hello there, I'm new in this field and need some assitance...

After I upload my upgrades to my URC-9960, It works great for a day or two. Suddenly, it doesn't control any of my devices ( - not only the upgrades, also factory code devices).

I have to upload my backup file from IR.EXE again in order to make it work. couple of days over - same story again - the unit looses all the memory.

what is more strange - after today's memory lost I did a little test. I hooked the remote to the PC and downoaded the memory into IR.EXE. To my surprise - all the codes were still there like nothing happend! but I did got a warning massage from the software saying: "Bad checksum at adress $0000. Expected $0C $F3, but found $00 $FF". after I click OK, the download session continue without a problem.

Any ideas what could couse this starnge memory lost of my poor remote?
I hate to go to my pc for an upload each time I'll need to change a channel...

Thanks,
Yoreh.

It appears that somehow the remote is corrupting the checksum in the EEPROM. Once that happens, the remote will ignore the EEPROM completely and just work using the codes stored in the main ROM.

I don't have a good idea as to what might be causing this, but my best suggestion is to check the batteries. Remember that the Kameleon will need a new set of batteries every week or so.

Thanks Rob,

I'll give it a try... Any recomendations of good rechargeble batteries for my remote? ( - or just buy stock bonds in Durracell? )

My recommendation would be "good rechargeable batteries" but I don't know which ones are better than others. But first, get a nice new set of Duracells and see if that fixes your current problem.
