Can't keymove sleep button while in VCR mode

Post by zigger »

Here's my file that I started today. As the topic states, I can't keymove the sleep button while in VCR mode.

Am I breaking the rules here?

The "Sleep" button isn't available in VCR mode. Assign your keymove to "Shift-Power" instead "Sleep". This should do the trick.

That's true, but not related to the reason the SLEEP key can't be KeyMoved.

For most keys, being unavailable in the desired upgrade type is a reason to use a KeyMove. It's not a reason that the KeyMove won't work.

The urc-7800 simply disables KeyMoves on the SLEEP key (similar to the way other models disable KeyMoves on the Fav key). Even if the upgrade type were one that could include SLEEP, you still couldn't use a KeyMove.

Since you're building an upgrade anyway and the desired KeyMove is consistent with the upgrade, you can make the device type be CBL instead of VCR and get the SLEEP key to work. Of course doing that would disable VPT in VCR mode. If you still want the effect of VPT in VCR mode you can recreate THAT with three KeyMoves (you seem to have plenty of KeyMove memory available).

Using the extender would avoid all those complications. KeyMoves on the SLEEP key would work, and a non default upgrade type wouldn't break VPT.

Thanks all for the info. Changing the device to cable and adding the three key-moves worked fine.

This stuff is addicting!!
