Self Made JP1 connectors

This is the JP1 beginners forum. There's no such thing as a stupid question in here, so post away, but this forum is just for JP1 users and people considering JP1, non-JP1 users please use the appropriate forum above!

Self Made JP1 connectors

Post by mchero »

UPDATE!

Found documentation but decided I should just purchase a kit!

Thanks

===============================================

I just returned from Ratshack where I picked up a 8in1 IR/RF for $24.00!! I'd like to make my own cable but all links I find point to non existant links on the Yahoo forum.

Should I go a Parallel or Serial? I do have both ports avail. I see that the USB is slow due to the chip used.

Thanks All!

Paralell is easiest.

On the 6 pin/wire cable (corresponding to JP1 pins)
On the 25 pin D-sub male LPT connector

Connect pins 1 to 2
3 to one or more of 18-25
4 direct to 11 ,
4 through a signal diode (best to use a schottky type), with the band to 2
5 through 1000 Ohm 1/4W resistor to 4
6 through 1000 Ohm 1/4W resistor to 3
